The Monson General Store has been serving this lake-shore Appalachian Trail Community for over a hundred years since the building which had formerly been offices burned and was rebuilt and became the general merchandise store. During the past ten years Tim Anderson with some help from Julie, a Monson native, and their children, have renovated and restored the store to a true general store and have occasionally been able to have such things as an arcade, short-order food service, morning coffee and gab sessions, and, of course, the Famous Friday Night Monson Jam Sessions along with general merchandise including everyday staples, beer, wine, sodas, hiker supplies, hardware, hunting and fishing supplies and skiing resources.
When the store undergoes new management later in October, we will welcome back some of the morning coffee and short-order food service as well as more regular hours that Tim could not do on his own! Soon the store will offer breakfast starting with a St. Michael's "Angels" Sunday brunch for the community and vacationers of all types - and friendly Cribbage tournament nights on Tuesday. Fridays we hope to make a special TGIF for all - Come join Fiesta Fridays - Starting with Burritos or warm hearty Taco Soup or Frito Pie for lunch and party into the night with the Famous Monson Jam Session - Burritos and Quesadillas or other Mexican American faves will be available for late night munchers!
